Book Review: Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf—her wolf—is a chilling presence she can't seem to live without. Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human... until the cold makes him shift back again.

Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It's her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human—or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.

Love this book. Plain and simple. Love it. Oh, you want to know why? Well alright. First of all, it's not your average werewolf love story. It's not even your average love story. It's not even your average story. It's just not average. The chapters are written in alternating views and instead of chapter titles you get temperatures. Yes, the temps mean something. Oh and it's printed in blue ink. And the cover is beautiful. Now that we've covered the obvious, I'll tell you about what I loved about the story inside the book.

I loved that you got to see both Sam's and Grace's points of view. Right away you see they're meant for each other. Their togetherness is something everyone can see. I also loved the way you know it's inevitable that something is going to happen that will potentially keep them apart. A 'bittersweet love story' is Shiver is often described. Bittersweet indeed. I can guarantee that you will cry sometime or another while reading this book. Yet another thing that I loved is the ending. It was amazing and totally unexpected. It was so good, I was shocked when I found out there was a second one. And a third one. Plus the second one has Cole. The third one isn't out yet but I can't wait to get my hands on it. Oh, and did I mention I love Cole? He's not in Shiver, but still, I love him.

Thanks for reading!
